Wait
“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” Psalm 27:14The bible is filled with scriptures telling us to wait on God. It’s not the waiting that bothers us it’s the what to do while we’re waiting.Often in prayer we are seeking immediate answers however that is usually not the case especially if there is something that God wants to teach us during our period of waiting. Many people become impatient when asked to wait and if you are not careful sin will creep in getting the best of you before you receive your answers. Daniel was a faithful servant of God and often sought God through prayer but there were occasions he would have to wait for a response. He didn’t become discouraged nor did he stop praying. In fact prayer was a part of his daily life and not getting an immediate response to his prayers never affected His faith in God or his daily practice of prayer.Often It is not the waiting that is distressing when we reach out to God it is what we are doing while we wait. God knows what we need before we ask Him so instead of becoming anxious, depressed, or frustrated God wants us to demonstrate steadfast hope in Him. And keep in mind, God hears us the very first time we pray so we don’t need to keep going over and over again in vain repetitions because He knows what our needs are (Matthew 6:7-8). It is in prayer that we demonstrate our need and dependence on Him. And it is in prayer that we express our total reliance on Him.“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.” Luke 18:1
