Thy Word
“Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.”
Isaiah 55:11
Who is a man of his word? Nowadays it’s hard to determine but there is One who keeps His word. Everything that God spoke has happened or will happen. That is what makes His word more precious than gold and sweeter than honey from the honeycomb (Psalm 19:10). It’s value without measure and more satisfying than honey. Both rare treasures to be desired and yet readily available to all who will receive and partake of them through the reading of His Word.
God calls out to us and speaks to us through His written word. And He tells us to “seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near (Isaiah 55:6)”. It is a call to read, study, and to meditate on His Word. In it are the words of life, “It is written “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4b)”.
As you make your resolutions, goals, and or commitments for the coming year be sure that you make reading God’s word one of them.
“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.”
Romans 15:4 (New International Version)
