God's Strength
“Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!”
1 Chronicles 16:11 (English Standard Version)
King David’s blueprint can be seen throughout several books of the bible. From his anointing as King in 1 Samuel 16, to his early kingship (2 Samuel, 1 Chronicles, and the Psalms), David exercised trust in God. His life is an example of the ups and downs of living a life that honors God. From his triumphs in battle to his failing in judgment (2 Samuel 12), David is an example of the need for God in our life.
We are imperfect people living in a world of imperfect people. Many are the opportunities to fail and fall away from God’s will. Left to our own devices perpetuates a greater opportunity to miss the mark, falling away from God’s divine plan and His divine will. When David’s sin was pointed out he didn’t attempt to explain why or how things happened. Instead he accepted responsibility for his sin, and sought God for forgiveness.
David’s sin was an act of will, of what he wanted, and the privilege his role as king afforded him. As children of God, there will be times and opportunity where we too may have decisions to make that can have good and or bad consequence. You need the Lord’s strength so that you won’t succumb to the snare of the flesh.
Our Lord has unlimited power and able to provide you with what you need to live a morally upright life that demonstrates He rules your life. Whether you’re in the darkness of despair, a place of uncertainty, or looking for direction, there is power in His name.
“The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”
Proverbs 18:10 (New International Version)
