The Best Friend

Relationships are complicated and learned early in life. A child’s relationship with a parent facilitates how one forms relationships with others. Relationships also require work and the giving of oneself to another in trust and belief that the feeling(s) are reciprocated. But it doesn’t stop there. Strong/healthy relationships are nurtured through ongoing communication.A relationship with God is also to be nurtured. Too often communication with Him is one-sided whereby prayers are rendered to receive something from Him and yet God is more than Someone to give us our desires. Yes God calls us His servants and His children but we should also desire to be called His friend. Friends of God eat together (Revelation 3:20), spend time together (John 14:23), believe in Him (James 2:23), and listen to Him (john 8:47). Patriarch Abraham was called just that, a “friend of God” and God is no respecter of persons. The best relationship you can ever have is with the One who loves you, watches over you, guides you, comforts you, heals you, protects you, delivers you, who doesn’t give up on you, keeps you, and most of all who died for you. He is the best friend anyone can ever have. What a friend we have in JesusAll our sins and griefs to bearAnd what a privilege to carryEverything to God in prayerOh, what peace we often forfeitOh, what needless pain we bearAll because we do not carryEverything to God in prayerHave we trials and temptationns? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouragedTake it to the Lord in prayerCan we find a friend so faithfulWho will all our sorrows share?Jesus knows our every weaknessTake it to the Lord in prayer(For non-commercial use only)(Data from: LyricFind)
