Thanks and Giving

“Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.” Mark 8:34-38Being a Christian means something. Being “salt” means something. Being light to the world means something. It means we have chosen, of free will, to be Disciples of Christ. It is a privilege and one that cannot be taken likely. As such, I’d like to offer up an opportunity and a challenge to anyone reading this devotion. For the month of November leading up to Thanksgiving I want to encourage you to find ways of offering “thanks” and ways of “giving”. It doesn’t have to be monetary but ways where we demonstrate our love, our determination, and our acts of service. Post your encounters here on my website and I will create a devotion based on your encounters. It is a way to maintain our focus, increase our faith, and for scripture to come alive.Allow Jesus to speak into your life but most importantly for Christ to speak into the lives of others. I look forward to hearing your God moments!
