Stop Worrying
Years ago the topic of anxiety wasn’t prevalent. There was an era when times were harder but you functioned knowing that if fear or anxiety were allowed to rule you would find yourself immobilized. Yes, it was there but parents dealt with it quite differently. They didn’t send you to physicians they basically ignored it and went about there lives. It didn’t mean it didn’t exist it just wasn’t something easily understood or addressed. People today like to thing that their life is harder than times past and that alone is reason to be anxious.Today you have people who are riddled with financial debt and student loans, emotionally empty due to lack of societal interaction, adults who are living at home with their parents, and those who experience stress because of trying to fit into an image set by others. There is no wonder why there is so much anxiety. God did understand it, knew we would experience it and gave His words to help with it. Life presents opportunities for anxiety and fear every day. Just waking up and going about daily responsibilities can create anxiety especially when you don’t know what you will face beyond the confines of your home. But His word was and is the cure for anxious and fearful times. He said “pray”. Sounds simple enough but how does prayer rid one of anxiety? Prayer provides opportunity to let go of your anxiety giving it to God but you have to believe that He will take it and in exchange for your worry, nervousness, unease, uncertainty, disquiet, angst, fear, stress, longing, desire, He will give you peace.“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” Philippians 4:6-7 (The Message)
