Stand Firm and Trust God

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings (1 Peter 5:8-9).”

To keep our children safe tools are put in place to ensure that their environment is free from potential danger. They are not the only ones who need to be protected and kept safe. Christians need tools to keep them safe as well and sometimes their dangers aren’t so clearly seen.

Danger is lurking all around and without warning you may find yourself drifting into areas that you were unaware and meant to destroy you. Peter doesn’t suggest that you may experience danger instead he says Christians are in constant danger and you need to be prepared so that you have a good offense when faced with it.

To avoid danger Peter admonishes that we be alert, know God’s word. Use its teachings to ward off Satan’s attacks and schemes and most of all trust the spirit of God, the abiding Comforter to provide you with the wisdom to know when you’re being pulled away from godly conduct and stand firm, confident in the One who saved and delivered you! Contend for what you believe knowing that you are not alone for “the battle is not yours, it’s the Lord’s”!
