Soul Searching

Life has a way of defining and shaping us. The choices you make and the road you choose plays a significant role into where you end up. But there are some roads that are not of our choosing and you may find that the one you landed on was filled with bad choices and destruction, a complete divergence from the will of God. It was not a direction you had to continue but it was all you knew and then one day you find there is another way a more excellent way that leads to a road (e.g. a life) filled with joy.Where you start does not mean it is where you will end. There is a way to be resurrected and placed on the right road. It begins with repentance. The ashes that were placed on your forehead represent a chance to start over. They are a symbol of remorse and regret, an expression of extreme sorrow for the bad choices you made and a sincere heartfelt desire to return to God. Job was described as a man upright and righteous before God however he too had times of frailty and expressed extreme remorse and repented (Job 42:1-6).Take this time to sincerely search your heart and to seek God. Ask Him to reveal any hidden sin and seek His forgiveness. Just like Jesus asked the men who brought the woman caught in the act of adultery (John 8) “He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone”; we all are guilty of some sin.“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:23-24
