Skeletons
Skeletons, the hard structure that protects the internal organs of a living thing housed under the skin, the muscle and the tissue of the body. Although not visible to the human eye, it is there protecting important parts of the body. But those aren’t the only skeletons. There are hidden skeletons and they are housed in the closets of your mind, those embarrassing, incriminating secrets from the past. They gnaw at you reminding you of your imperfections leaving you guilt ridden and feeling undeserving. These skeletons serve to create fear and lay hidden immobilizing forward movement and growth.King David had skeletons and it brought agony and separation from God:“When I kept silent,my bones wasted awaythrough my groaning all day long. For day and nightyour hand was heavy on me;my strength was sappedas in the heat of summer (Psalm 32:3-4).”But it was David’s acknowledgement and confession of his sin to God that brought restoration and forgiveness:“Then I acknowledged my sin to youand did not cover up my iniquity.I said, “I will confessmy transgressions to the LORD.”And you forgavethe guilt of my sin (Psalm 32:5).”The world would like to condemn past indiscretions and sins however it is God who absolves us from the blame and guilt that seeks to hold us hostage to our past instead of walking in liberty through Christ. “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed (John 8:36).”God alone is our judge (and He knows everything both seen and unseen) and it is He who examines our hearts and releases us from the guilt of past sin.“Blessed is the onewhose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.Blessed is the onewhose sin the LORD does not count against themand in whose spirit is no deceit (Psalm 32:1-2).”
