Seek Him through Prayer

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the LORD, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the LORD, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.” (Jeremiah 29:13-15)

Have you ever considered the situations you find yourself are of your own doing? When we disobey God, we may find ourselves in places that are unfamiliar and were never designated by God. Asking God for deliverance instead of direction can result in devastating consequence but God does not abandon His children. There is much to be said about that kind of love, the love God has for His children. Children have a tendency to stray away from the good teachings of loving fathers but there are great lessons to be learned when you exercise obedience. The psalmist proclaims, “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.”

Maybe it’s you that have strayed away from the Lord’s teaching, you’ve gotten caught up in pride and selfishness. He will not hold that against you if you truly seek Him. Go boldly before the Lord but not as one who is without sin but as someone who recognizes the consequence of sin and the need for God’s help for forgiveness to bring you back into a right relationship with Him. He is a God of restoration and He does whatever He has promised. Not because of who you are but because of who He is!
