Replace Unwholesome Talk with God’s Word
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you (Ephesians 4:29, 31-32).”
What does it mean to be Christ like? It is the person who demonstrates the qualities of Christ.
Throughout history there have been situations that pull Christians away from their new life in Christ and that is a battle that will not cease. And since it will not cease we need support and instruction because although we’ve changed allegiances (from the worldview to Christ) there is a struggle because the world (the natural man) wants to regain control. In these times it is good to remember the emptiness, the storms and the disconnect you felt before Christ came into your life and how committing to Him changed your life.
“If Christ has died for me, ungodly as I am, without strength as I am, then I cannot live in sin any longer, but must arouse myself to love and serve Him who has redeemed me. The first fresh hour of every morning should be dedicated to the Lord, whose mercy gladdens it with golden light (Charles Spurgeon).”
