Rebirth
February 26, 2019The stories of childbirth range from long labors accompanied by excruciating pain to some moms requiring surgical procedures to protect mom and baby from harm; most moms would agree that childbirth is the worst pain one could ever experience. But while physical childbirth is painful, spiritual rebirth is not necessarily so, if and only if the one seeking it is willing to make a deliberate change to follow Christ. “A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.” John 16:21
You’ve heard it referred to in many ways from “born again”, “regenerated”, “transformed”, “metamorphosis” and more, the bottom line is it is choosing to walk in the Spirit (e.g. born from the Spirit of God). Nicodemus in John 3 asked Jesus how this could be done. Jesus’ reply wasn’t focused on physical rebirth, which is not possible but spiritual birth, a birth that is transforming moving one from a life with physical limitations to spiritual possibilities. It is a need of anyone who is tired of living according to worldly standards. Through Christ there is an opportunity or and invitation to move from the evil represented in this world environment (e.g. sin) to a life committed to doing the will of Christ. Being born again provides the opportunity to start over again without the baggage of past trespasses and sins that separated us from the love of God. It gives you the power to transform your life from something bad to something good, something worthwhile, to awaken to new understanding and the ability to fulfill God’s will and your purpose. Is it painful? It is if you struggle to leave your old life behind. You only need to see and experience rebirth in the lives of those who have experienced true transformations; those who have made that commitment to do the will of Christ to see the joy of rebirth.Does this mean life will be easy? Actually in some cases it may seem a bit more difficult however the difference is you have a companion, the Holy Spirit that will help you in times of trouble. You’re not alone but you have the aid and the power of God to deliver you.Yes, childbirth is painful but spiritual rebirth gives us the ability to start over again and to grow in the awareness and the presence and power of God. It is a reincarnation of the soul!“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17©2018-2019 Mamie Johnson Ministries
