“And when the Lord your God brings you into the land that he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you—with great and good cities that you did not build, and houses full of all good things that you did not fill, and cisterns that you did not dig, and vineyards and olive trees that you did not plant—and when you eat and are full, then take care lest you forget the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, (Deuteronomy 6:10-12a).”

This is the time of year we take time to reflect on the months gone by.  For most of 2020 nothing was as many expected.  You may have believed this was a year of clear vision (hence “20 20”) but it has proven that nothing at all was as expected.  In fact the best way to see 2020 might be to look back to what has not happened.  No birthday or anniversary celebrations, canceled and postponed weddings, no impromptu gatherings, no last minute vacation plans etc.  It is a year to remember that many would like to forget.  However it is when we forget the struggle(s) that we take for granted the blessings.  It’s tough remembering hardship but that does not mean we should exercise ingratitude for God’s sustaining power.

We’ll get through 2020 but don’t forget who delivered you from it and who will and is there in the good times as well as the bad.
