It's All Relavent
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17Education is a vital part of understanding the world around us. As a youngster I resented having to take courses that perceivably had no relevance to living outside of the academic walls. How was geometry or trigonometry, algebra, world history, etc. going to help me to make a living. Although I was successful I dismissed their value. When I went to college, at least at the undergraduate level I felt the same but while taking the varied prerequisite course work I found that what I deemed irrelevant or unimportant in high school would have applicability in the field I was pursuing. Who would think that my ability to understand algebra would present itself in business statistics and lead me to develop business skills through analytics and economic studies (trust me I’m still no expert). (I know, enough of this longhaired stuff). What I’m trying to say is this, sometimes the things we believe are unnecessary or serving no purpose are in fact important in advancing in faith.Studying scripture is of essential benefit for Christians who want to grow more in their faith with a focus on knowing and understanding our Lord. While some texts, bible stories, and characters etc. have no direct impact on your current circumstance, if you take the time to really read and meditate on His word you may find a message that speaks to your every day situation.Just like we grow physically from birth to death so does our spirit. It is that growth that aids in understanding things deemed unnecessary, irrational, or without benefit that will help move you through life’s ups and downs.From the words of the Apostle Paul to the church at Ephesus and my prayer for you is this:“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,…” Ephesians 1:17-18
