He Speaks
Often you hear me talking about the importance of developing a relationship with God. Through relationship we learn the true nature of a person, which in turn determines what kind of relationship you will have with them. Is it based on trust, is it a passive one, is it as a matter of necessity or convenience (your workplace, family etc.)? Whether its based on trust or a matter of benefit to you, you have to agree that communication is a vital part of determining the kind of relationship you will have. It requires interacting with each other. So how can you communicate with God when you can’t audibly hear Him? First, you must rid yourselves of the idea that God doesn’t speak to you. He absolutely speaks to everyone and anyone who desires to hear from Him. In the gospel of John chapter one, verses one and two gives a clear indication of how He speaks; “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.” Jesus is the Word and because of Him we have access to the Father as He makes intercession for us (Romans 8:34). The bible is His word and there is a word for every question and situation in life. And if that weren’t enough there is prayer. That’s your time to communicate with Him. So you see, God’s not silent. The issue is, do you really want to hear from Him or are you focused only on what you have to say?“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20
