He Doesn't Forget

“Can a mother forget the baby at her breastand have no compassion on the child she has borne?Though she may forget,I will not forget you!See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;your walls are ever before me.Isaiah 49:15-16Christians are called children of God and as children it is easier to relate to and understand the nature of the Father. But unlike earthly parents where occasional brokenness in the relationship occurs, God is and will always be there for us. Does this mean that He won’t chastise us for our deliberate disobedience or sin? No, but He will forgive us when we confess and return to Him.God loves us and will not forget about us no matter how much we stray away from His desire. Just like the mother who brings forth new life, God looks at us in our rebirth and smiles because of the hope and promise He has for us. Just like the child that feeds from their mother’s breast, we are born of Him and it is that closeness we are assured that He understands us.If you haven’t heard from Him in a while or you’re feeling abandoned take heart for every time He opens His hands He sees not only your name, He sees you.“Heaven and earth may be well astonished that rebels should obtain such a nearness to the heart of infinite love as to be written upon the palms of His hands. “I have graven you.” It does not say, “I have graven your name.” The name is there, but that is not all; “I have graven you!” See the fullness of this! I have graven your person, your temptations, your weaknesses, your wants, your works; I have graven you, everything about you, all that concerns you; I have put you altogether there. Will you ever say again that your God has forsaken you when He has graven you upon His own palms?”— Charles Spurgeon
