Good News

An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.” Luke 2:9-10

The first persons told of Christ's birth weren’t noteworthy people but common shepherds, ordinary people. This news frightened them and who wouldn’t be? Here they are going about their daily activities and an angel appears and they’re terrified. But it was words of comfort that came after their fright that calmed their fear, “Do not be afraid”. God’s objective wasn’t to provoke fear but to offer hope, and trust through a gift, a promise of eternal life through Christ our Lord. When you receive good news from the Lord, it is news of an abiding hope and promise. #angels
