God’s Thoughts for You
“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God (1Corinthians 2:9).”
There are a number of ways to tell what someone is thinking. It could be by the way that they look at you, their speech, by what they don’t say, their body language, by asking questions and more. But how do you tell what God is thinking? Why can’t you read His thoughts? How can you hear Him? Maybe it’s because you’re using human reasoning.
Using human wisdom to understand God is impossible. God is a mystery and trying to discern His thoughts, the deep things of God requires His Spirit. And His Spirit lives inside of every born-again believer. Does that mean that God will tell you everything you want to know? Maybe the better question is “can we handle the answers to everything that we ask God”? What would be different if let’s say you knew when He was returning? Would you really change your ways or live according to His will? Instead of wanting to know everything God is thinking why not choose to live in faith because whatever He is thinking it is for our good.
“He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:7-8).”
