God's House
“One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.Psalm 27:4-5Trouble is not something we look for because whether we look for it or not, it has a way of finding us. Just look around; no matter where you look you can find trouble lurking. It simply is inescapable.David knew this well as he encountered many difficult times. Often the recipient of enemy attacks whether from King Saul, the Philistines, his son, or others he was constantly faced with opposition. As a chosen servant of God one might erroneously think that he would be free from evil forces but unfortunately when he said yes to God he was saying yes to whatever God would allow him to face. But David didn’t faint when faced with hard times. No, what he did was call out to God because he realized that no matter what he might come up against there was a safe place that he could go and that was to the Lord. David didn’t just want to call out to God, he begged to abide where he dwelled twenty four seven, to see His kindness, His pleasantness, His beauty, to live with Him.Just think what it must feel like to be in the presence of God all of the time, to live in His house, to experience His form, and to know that He will be there keeping us even in the scariest of times. David said that this was the only thing he sought because he knew there was safety in His arms.Today His Holy Spirit lives within us; His abiding presence and it is His presence that can keep us all the days of our life. Is this your desire today “that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life”? Because the house of God is a “very very very fine house"!
