Get to Know Christ

“From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:16-17).”

Jesus came in human form and the bible shares of His many encounters and experiences but He was not a mere mortal. Those that walked with Him knew Him as Jesus but they really didn’t fully understand and know Him as the Christ, the Son of the living God. The time He spent on earth was an opportunity for anyone who encountered Him to get to know Him, to know Christ. The disciples, the woman with the issue of blood, Jairus’ daughter, the woman at the well, blind Bartimaeus, the centurion’s servant, Peter’s mother-in-law, the man at the pool of Bethesda, they all experienced Jesus but did they come to know Christ?

Do you know Jesus or do you know Christ? May the hearts of all who believe in Him desire to know Him as the Apostle Paul who proclaimed to the church at Philippi “I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead (Philippians 3:10-11).”
