Focus on the Future

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland (Isaiah 43:18-19).”

Were things really that good before the pandemic? Last year forced us to look at life differently, to reexamine our priorities and to look at ourselves not only externally but also internally. Much like the Israelites who were mired in the circumstances of captivity we too were held captive and forced out of our normal routines by an invisible enemy. But have you considered that maybe just maybe God needed to erase some habits, some situations, and some people from your life to reveal something new, something far better?

Getting stuck in the past, the way things used to be is a recipe for immobility and stagnation. God is saying you can let go of anything that held you back or things that you considered good so that you can experience His best. The year 2020 was like wandering in the wilderness, an uninhabited place where you couldn’t see what lurked ahead but God is bringing you into a land that is far better than what you left behind.

“There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress (Psalm 46:4,7).”
