Feed Us Lord
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled (Matthew 5:6)”.Have you ever had a desire for something and you’re not sure of what it is? Hunger is a good way to attempt to understand that inward desire. The whole idea of food is to keep us alive and to fuel our bodies for life. Over the years however, food has become more about pleasure than a necessity for life. You can have food but because it does not satisfy that inward longing you’re searching for you may find that it isn’t physical food you need.America has an over abundance of food. Just look in any grocery store and your eyes glaze over with all of the choices available to us. Food offers temporary pleasure but “Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing (Luke 12:23)”. Sure we need food to live and God knows that but the body will one-day cease however and more importantly it is the spirit that lives on.The next time you experience that sense of emptiness, disconnect, yearning, that loneliness and emotionally numbing pain, maybe it’s your spirit you need to feed not your body. Satiate that spiritual hunger by ingesting what feeds the spirit, the word of God.King David encourages; “Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him (Psalm 34:8)”. I think I’ll have what he’s having!!
