Everything is Going to be Alright
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).And all things do work together for good even in calamity. It is not unusual to think that because there is a relationship with God that there will never be trouble or distressing times. In fact you may experience increased challenges leaving you with the legitimate question of “why”. He allows it for many reasons. God allows some calamity to grow us, to help us, to build us up, to increase our strength, to gain wisdom, to demonstrate His power, to shape us into His image, to create a dependence on Him, to expand our faith. But don’t forget there is a second part to that verse; “to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose”.We want good in our lives, we search for it, desire it but oftentimes we want it based on our own ambitions and desires. What if God allowed you to be overtaken by a serious illness to show His power? When Mary and Martha’s brother Lazarus died it was four days before He raised him up. In the meantime his sisters and those who mourned his loss suffered great emotional pain however Jesus explained it was all done to glorify God.If you love God, if you trust He knows what you’re facing, if you believe He has a purpose for your distress then you can rejoice with confidence that everything is going alright!
