Delight in God's Word
They look like they’re winning. They practice deceit, exercise hate in their hearts, promote evil practices and profane the name of God. They are the wicked, those who are immoral and who take pride in wrong doing, never seeking to do what is right. You see them all around from the workplace, in families, your neighbors, in government, and peppered all throughout society. Often unavoidable yet they can influence good behavior. So what prevents the “if you can’t beat them, join them”? Yes they appear stronger and it would seem that if they are too strong it might just be better to be on the same side with them. However there is a better way.The psalmist proclaims, “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked”. Just knowing that you are blessed by doing what is right should be reason enough to want to seek and do the will of God. He (the psalmist) speaks of meditating on the law of the Lord. So why the law of the Lord? The law helps us to see our sinful nature and how we must be purposeful in doing what is right. You can’t do this on your own; it can only be accomplished consciously and intentionally focused on God’s word.God’s word is filled with power. Spending time focused on His book of wisdom pays great benefits none the least is the watchful eye of God keeping you and protecting you in all your ways.Psalm 11 Blessed is the onewho does not walk in step with the wickedor stand in the way that sinners takeor sit in the company of mockers,2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in seasonand whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaffthat the wind blows away.5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction. In the end, we win!!
