Comfort Us Lord

The Lord is close to the broken hearted; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Psalm 34:18Death, we’re never ready for it but it will come to us all. For some death will come through natural cause or it may come as the result of an illness, and yet unfortunately for some unexpectedly without warning through random acts of violence. Overwhelming grief snatches our soul as we seek to quiet the unrest occurring inside. No matter the cause, death leaves an emptiness that seeks to be comforted. How can we come to terms with unexpected death?God is close to those who are hurting whose heart(s) have been broken. He knows first hand what it feels like when someone you love dies. His only Son suffered the agony of death but He would not suffer defeat nor do we need to. Death entered our world from the beginning of time due to sin and it is sin that continues to bring death upon us today. But God did not leave us hopeless. It is His unfailing love that gives us hope as He was willing to allow His own Son to die to bring us life. This may be a hard concept to understand if you don’t have faith in God. However for those who do, while grief may be painstaking we have a promise of seeing those who die in faith to live again.Tomorrow is not promised so choose not to live your life in despair, hurt or anger. Your grief demonstrates the love you had for your loved one and the love you lost. Take the time to grieve, it’s normal, share your hurt, cry when the waves of despair overtake you but don’t give up on life or on living.“The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry; but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth.” Psalm 34:15-16
