Call on the Lord
“Run to meet her and ask her, 'Are you all right? Is your husband all right? Is your child all right?'" "Everything is all right," she said (2 Kings 4:26).”
She had no expectations. She was a woman who saw a holy man of God that passed her home day after day and wanted to do something to make him comfortable. So she furnished the upper room of her home to provide care during his travels. She expected nothing from him but he wanted to return her kindness. So he promised her a son and that promise was fulfilled. After some time the son became sick and died. Instead of crumbling into tears she saddled a donkey and went to find the man who had blessed her. Even in her distress, when met by the man’s servant to see if she was alright her response was, “it is well”.
Not many would have exhibited the same calm this woman did in the midst of what must have been tremendous grief. When the servant of the man of God asked how everything was her response did not echo that of a woman in distress but of someone who in the midst of her pain trusted that all would be well. She could have told the servant what had happened to her son, fell at his feet in despair but she didn't. Instead she went straight to the one who had given her this precious gift. She demonstrated courage and faith while in the midst of pain. And most importantly don't miss this, she went to the one who was able to do something about her pain.
Blessings aren't necessarily free from stress but; “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and rescues them from all their troubles (Psalm 34:17)”.
When trouble comes trust that the Lord hears your cry.
