Be Holy
“As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy (I Peter 1:14-16).”Those who have committed their life to Christ have been adopted into the family of God. Adoption comes with great benefits and one of those benefits includes receiving the same rights due to children that are of natural birth. You have been given the opportunity to live a life that God wants for you. As fully adopted children of God, He desires that you no longer go after the things that the flesh craves, He wants your obedience and for you to hope to be like Him.God is holy and His children are requested to emulate the same heart and mindset He has. Holy people are of one mind, the mind of Christ, they shun anything that goes against the will of God (evil), he or she will exercise meekness and humility in their interactions, practicing self denial while expressing kindness and charity to his or her brothers or sisters. Holy people walk in the fear of God and are faithful in all their duties.Holiness is godliness, we are the branches that are connected to the vine doing the bidding of our loving Father (John 15). It is that connectivity that gives you the power to walk out your faith, to be holy. It is the presence of His Holy Spirit that wars for you against the weaknesses of the flesh.Exercising holiness is the response of obedient children who seek and desire to please the Lord God our heavenly Father.
