And When You Pray...
Teach me how to pray….“In this manner, therefore, pray:Our Father in heaven,Hallowed be Your name.Your kingdom come.Your will be doneOn earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts,As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation,But deliver us from the evil one.For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”Matthew 6:9-13Have you ever been perplexed about what to ask God for? Is there a prayer that can address all your needs? The answer is yes! And it is a simple prayer that He taught when He taught the disciples how to pray. In Matthew 6 Jesus said, “give us this day…” don’t worry about tomorrow (Matthew 6:34), and, “thy will be done… (Matthew 6:10)” may I live for Him and His purposes. Asking for His will is surrendering totally, your plans, ideas, your thoughts, everything to what He wants. It means that you give your consent for God to do whatever He wants as it applies to your life. The Lord’s Prayer is a comprehensive prayer that conveys the reverent nature of God and His power over and in the universe and in our lives. Praying for the needs of the day places whatever is troubling you in God’s more than capable hands and praying for His will is trusting that God’s knows what is best for you. There is no situation that He is not familiar with and occasionally there will be times that He will permit trials in your life. But no matter how difficult things appear He has the wherewithal to get you through them accomplishing His purpose through you.It is confirmation, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
