Access Granted

Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,  by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body,  and since we have a great priest over the house of God,  let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.  Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.”

Hebrews 10:19-23 (New International Version)

The Most Holy Place is the most sacred place, it is God’s dwelling place.  Only the high priests were allowed entrance and only once a year, on the Day of Atonement (Hebrews 9:7).  Before entering the high priest had to wash himself, put on special clothing, bring incense to burn, and bring blood to make atonement for sin.  God was shielded from man but the death of Christ introduced a new day.  It introduced the opportunity for everyone to come to Him in sincerity.  It was Jesus’ blood that allowed everyone entrance into the most Holy Place.

Christ’s sacrifice provides great privilege.  The confidence to come to Him, an intercessor that helps in prayer, the assurance through faith, and new life.  No longer bound by sin, but direct access to Him brought about because of God’s unconditional love.

The New Year provokes physical cleansing but don’t forget about the need for spiritual cleansing.  Desire to enter into a right relationship with God a relationship that will propel you to meet the goals God has for you.  What great assurance and hope He brings.

Access to God came at a high price.  Honor the cost of entry with hearts that steadfastly trust in Him.
