Prayer Works

January 10, 2019

Prayers work and are encouraged as a daily practice for Christians. The bible urges praying without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). So why aren’t your prayers getting answered? Are your prayers selfishly motivated, do they acknowledge God, are they focused on His will, do they consider others, and are you seeking His strength?Praying is how Christians fight but fight to win. In prayer God can provide the guidance to address daily battles that on the surface appear insurmountable. Recall if you will Samson. He did things his way even when it didn’t agree with who he was called to be or what he was called to do. His is a story of someone who fell away from the will of God but called out to Him in prayer and God heard and answered him. In Judges 16 he had been captured by the Philistines and after capture they gouged out his eyes. At one time he had great strength but he did not realize “the Lord had left him”. But he prayed; “..., “Sovereign LORD, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes (vs. 28)”.

God remembered Samson and answered His prayer. Sin separated Samson from God and sin is what separates us from God. If your prayers aren’t getting answered ask God to reveal the sin that is preventing your prayers from getting answers. Prayer worked for Samson and will also work for you. “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours (Mark 11:24).”©2018-2019 Mamie Johnson Ministries
