A Gracious Response
“I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live (Psalm 116:1-2).”
Gratitude, that is what this psalm exhibits. Gratitude for what God has done. He heard His voice; He heard His cries, and His response is a commitment to a relationship that will last for the rest of His days. It is a vow of loyalty not for what He will do in the future but for what He had already done.
Loving someone based on what they have done is a sign of appreciation. Loving someone without expectation is devotion.
