A Good Word

“Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad.” Proverbs 12:25Depression, it’s that dark place where pessimism and misery reside. It is a wall built to keep people out but it also locks you in. It is a place filled with sadness, sorrow, and woe, a place you never intentionally journeyed yet you find yourself there. You wish someone would understand, that you could find comfort in someone who has suffered with this state of being but help is nowhere to be found. Unfortunately we hear more and more people suffering from this debilitating condition and they are closer than you think.Knowing that others have experienced this ailment can be helpful especially if you see them on the other side of it. At one time during His time on earth, Jesus suffered from depression. The prophet Isaiah foretold that He would; “He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem (Isaiah 53:3).”Unfortunately I know intimately the feelings and effects of depression. People ask me how did I get through it and my answer is “a good word”. God’s word ministered to me in a way that can only be described as miraculous. And if He did it for me, I know He will do it for you too.You don’t have to hide behind fear and loneliness, God’s word will lift your spirit, bring optimism, turn your sadness to joy, and fill you with hope for the days to come. “Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad”!! Hallelujah, “God be praised”!
