The Benefits of Wisdom
“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” James 3:17The value of wisdom cannot be understated. When facing a problem and you can’t find the answer where do you turn and whom can you go too? Solomon as a mere youth realized the monumental task that he was given and although he had not experienced much in life, he had the wherewithal (wisdom) to ask for what he needed (I Kings 3:6-12). Just knowing the necessity to exercise good judgment demonstrates the soundness of mind to seek what you do not have which is the beginning of wisdom. God not only honored Solomon’s request but He gave him much more than what he asked for which included “both riches, and honor” (1 Kings 3:13).More important than riches is wisdom. Wisdom prevents heartache, allowing for wise decision making and the ability to offer advice so as to achieve the best outcome in specific situations. Unfortunately in today’s world wisdom is lacking and its necessity is seen in our day to day interactions as well as in those who have been awarded the responsibility to establish rules and policies. The benefits of wisdom are incomparable and worthy of pursuit. When you exercise wisdom you’re putting first things first. Godly wisdom is priceless and something we all should seek to possess.Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silverand her profit better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her.Long life is in her right hand;in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her;those who hold her fast are called blessed.Proverbs 3:13-18
