Trust His Will
“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him (Matthew 6:6-8).”
Look around and it is easy to see why we should to pray. But if God already knows everything what’s the use in praying?
Prayer goes beyond getting individual needs met. Prayer is about gaining insight as we develop a relationship with God. Such prayers encourage us in difficult times to place our focus on God and not on ourselves. It also leads to deep honest soul searching as was illustrated in Jesus’ prayers. One of His prayers illustrates His desire but also His openness to hearing His Father’s will. In His humanness He understood the magnitude of the suffering He was about to experience that led Him to His knees. In the Garden of Gethsemane He prayed for deliverance but it was in that prayer He accepted God’s will; “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done (Luke 22:42)”.
Sincere prayer will lead to understanding and acceptance but also the strength to endure as you trust the will of God. So find that special place that quiet place, and enter communion through prayer with God.
