He Knows What's Best

“Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed (1 Peter 4:12-13).”Our sin or God’s will? When things aren’t going the way we want them to, we seek to determine whose fault is it and to establish blame. Maybe it really isn’t anyone’s fault, but God’s Sovereign will. Such pondering occurs when we want answers or there is a loss or lack of one’s ability to control or understand their circumstances.When we speak of the Sovereign will of God, we recognize God as the supreme authority of all things and all things are under His control. He has the right to do or not to do things according to His good pleasure. But then there is God’s perfect will. That is, He has a divine plan for our lives and both require trust and confidence that whatever His will is He knows what is best for us.In light of our current events we have so many questions and God has the answers, but they are yet to be revealed. In the meantime we speculate and derive our own opinions based on individual teachings or personal circumstance(s). One thing is clear, no matter what it looks like, God is in control. What we need to do is to find contentment in spite of it all. The Apostle Paul suggested that the secret to contentment is not that everything is going the way we want it to but that in every situation we can look up to the Lord and know that it will be alright.Hard times can’t be avoided but we’re going to get through them. God’s word brings comfort and peace if you truly trust and believe in Him. Never forget, the love God has for you and that He wants the best for you. “The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers (Psalm 34:15)”.
