Desire What's Best

“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything.” 1 Corinthians 6:12The culture of today is quite different than it was years ago. With so many advancements we’ve taken the initiative to push the envelope further and further. Alcohol was not sold on Sunday’s, specific items were never advertised on television, there was a sense of modesty in mixed company, frankly, television consisted of three channels and they signed off between 11 and midnight. Telephones sat on desks or hung on walls, food was prepared in ovens and on stovetops. Times have changed but not everything has changed for the better.Today marijuana has been legalized, alcohol flows in abundance, birth control is commonplace, finding a mate relegated to a keyboard, premarital sex the norm. Paul understood that there are many things that you have the right to do however that doesn’t mean it’s good for you. If the spirit of God resides in you, you will question the things that are presented to you. It’s not about being just good for the body, ask yourself does it also feed your soul.
