“for our “God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:29
Campers have a love for the outdoors. They enjoy canoeing, fishing, hunting, hiking enjoying the wide-open spaces. One thing that is important especially on cool nights is knowing how to start and maintain a fire. Fire provides not only warmth but also protection from animals that venture into the camp. Christians also can benefit from fire.
The Holy Spirit is referred to as a consuming fire. It is the kind of fire that devours whatever comes in its path. As Christians we are in a world that occasional feels like a campsite, living in a world not knowing what to expect. That’s why it is important to have the right equipment, a fire starter, the Holy Spirit so that when danger approaches you can ignite that fire inside of you to stave off anything or anyone seeking to devour you.
It was fire that guided the Israelites at night as they journeyed in the wilderness. It was a sign that they were not alone but God was with them and He is with you today. May His fire, the fire of the Holy Spirit consume you and provide you with the warmth, guidance, comfort, and wherewithal you need.
