Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
Christmas is fast approaching and the closer it gets the rush to ensure that it will be merry and bright creates undo stress. Speeding cars, short tempers, late nights, and little sleep all comes with it. Tendencies to fill schedules with social gatherings are significantly increased and zap energy. Going from a relatively relaxed schedule to a hectic stress inducing one is a recipe for depression at holidays end but these aren’t the only stressors. The holiday also brings sadness of loved ones who are no longer with us, mourning their absence, reminiscing of the times spent together and wishing they were here with us again. Navigating through the sad times of holidays end isn’t easy but having the right focus will help.
Live life with eyes that see Christ, teaching as He taught, to live as He lived, humbled, compassionate, loving, deliberate, and obedient. Do this and Christmas will never end.
